Ali Ibrahim
Managing Director of Emcredit; and Deputy Director General for Executive Affairs at Dubai Department of Economic Development
Ali Ibrahim has played an instrumental role in Emcredit even prior to the launch of the company. Since 2003, he has been closely involved in the conceptualisation, research and formation of Emcredit, which emerged as the first private credit information company in the UAE in late 2006.
Presently serving as Managing Director of Emcredit, Ibrahim spearheads Emcredit’s strategy and oversees business operations and expansion plans. He is also the Deputy Director General for Executive Affairs at the Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED), a position he has held for the past 10 years.
His in-depth knowledge of trade and investor relations and his innovative ideas and strategies have enabled the DED to become the primary Dubai Government body with the mandate to organise, regulate and boost trade and industry within the Emirate of Dubai.
Ali Ibrahim has been instrumental in the formation of Dubai Strategic Plan 2015 and currently holds senior positions in some of UAE’s leading companies. He is the Vice Chairman of Amlak Finance; Chairman of Emaar Financial Services; a board member of Emaar Industries and Investments PJSC and Emirates Airlines.
In the past, Ali Ibrahim has served on the board of Dubai Financial Market, Taxi Dubai and Higher Insurance Committee.
A graduate in Business and English from the UAE University, he began his career with the UAE Central Bank in 1983, soon rising to become its Assistant Director for Research and Statistics. Since he joined the DED in 1993, Ali Ibrahim has been responsible for continuously upgrading and enhancing the policies of the Department and making them increasingly investor friendly.
